Great Camera for Active Travelers

I've owned the FZ-40 for six days.
As an energetic traveler, I actually have used many completely different cameras. you actually cannot fail with any of the mega-zoom purpose and shoots - all of them have their professionals and cons.
However, the Panasonic FZ-40 is maybe nearly as good as P&S's can get with this technology. Some day somebody can puzzle out a way to get a much bigger and higher sensor to figure with a mega-zoom lens, however till then, the FZ-40 is my alternative.
This camera is straightforward to use, fast focusing, and has all the manual changes and suppleness you may ever want. It's well-designed and designed for the active photographer. It conjointly contains a long battery life, however finding replacement batteries could be a downside that Panasonic has to clear up fast! Image quality is superb compared to its competitors. Image stabilization is outstanding, even at full 24X zoom i do not want a monopod or tripod (I want one with my Olympus SP-800). The zoom is additionally quiet and swish. ISO appearance smart up through 800. i am still experimenting with macro shots - i am not real happy nevertheless, however it's in all probability me. i am unable to tell lots of distinction between traditional and fine JPEG's, aside from the file size. The EVF is extremely smart - i am unable to live while not an honest read finder. I've tried zooming within the wilds with an LCD screen, and it simply does not cut it!
All in all, I rate this camera as wonderful. I thought of the FZ-100, however determined I failed to want, nor want, the additional options. Besides, I've continually had smart results with the little CCD sensors.
