My Fotodiox Canon FD adapter arrived in precisely four days. inside fifteen seconds of gap the box I took my 1st successful photo with my Panasonic G1. Installation could not be simpler:

1) I placed the adapter on my Canon FD one.4 mm lens

2) I created certain the "Shoot while not lens" choice was set to "on" on the camera setup menu

3) I Removed the quality Panasonic lens and mounted the Canon/adapter combo specifically as i'd the Panasonic lens

4) I switched the main focus ring on the highest of the camera to "manual". once I pressed the shutter 1/2 method, an icon appeared on the LCD indicating that that the proper button on the four method controller woulad amplify focus. I pressed it, the image was magnified for concerning five seconds, then went back to fill screen.

Focusing with the Canon 50mm one.4 was quite straightforward due to the wonderful resolution of the G1 LCD and EVF. Tip: focus with the lens wide open and then stop right down to desired aperture.

So how was the image quality? I shot many pictures with the Canon and therefore the normal Panasocnic 14-45 mm lend back to back. the photographs shot with the Canon lens were slightly sharper at a similar aperture (5.6). However, the Canon pictures appeared slightly less color-saturated than those with the Panasonic lens, that is okay by me since I like my pictures that method and color saturation is well adjusted.

Bottom line: i'm thrilled to rediscover the fun of my thirty three year-old Canon 50mm one.4 FD. With the 2X conversio issue, I currently have a awfully quick and sharp portrait lens. the Lens is considerably heavier than the Panasonic lens however it desn't appear mismatched with the G1 body. At simply $40, it's a wonderful worth and that i simply do not see spending $200 for a few of the opposite brands.
